With a complete front brake job you will get new rotors or your old rotors will be machined, new calipers, and new brake pads. If you have serviceable wheel bearings you get your wheel bearings cleaned, lubricated and new grease seals. Brake hoses will get a visual inspection for cracks or bulges. Usually the hoses are ok if they pass a visual inspection but there are cases where they can cause brake pulling issues.
We do asses the condition of your brakes and while we do recommend a complete brake job, sometimes there are corners that can be cut . This varies based on the evenness of brake pad wear. Below is a photo gallery of some of the issues we talk about in the article

Sometimes you can get by with just brake pads. If your brake pads are worn even ,you have no brake pulsation along with rotors that measure good without rust pitting, and no visible leaks you can get away with just brake pads. Either way you decide and as stated before in our( about us) tab comment we treat your car as if it was our own. If your just getting pads we lubricate everything as it should be done!
Rear drum brakes are a little different and some cars and trucks still have them. Usually they don't cost as much even though they look alot more difficult . Usually the brake drums have plenty of metal to be machined. Everything else pretty much still applies as it is just another hydraulic system.
